Lucille Ray Obituary

Hope - Lucille C. (Pelletier) Ray, 76, of Hope, died Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. She was the beloved wife of Richard Ray.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Edouard and Emelda (Fredette) Pelletier, she had lived in Smithfield for many years, before moving to Hope twenty years ago.

Mrs. Ray was devoted to the care of her late son, Richard, as he courageously battled muscular dystrophy. Her children were her proudest achievement. Lucille's warmth, laughter, and unconditional love filled her family and friends lives with joy. Lucille's legacy of humor, perseverance, faith, and strength will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She enjoyed reading, antiquing, and going to the live theater performances with her daughter. She would later work as a housekeeper for Hebert Nursing Home, Smithfield before retiring.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Renee Burns and her husband Todd, of Scituate; one sister, Claire Levesque of Cranston; and one brother, Gerard Pelletier of South Carolina. She was the mother of the late Richard DeBlois, and the sister of the late Richard Pelletier, Edward Pelletier, Paul Pelletier and Jeanne Matthews.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 9:45 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Saint Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
